Weibo Feminism

Weibo Feminism is the first book to explore in-depth the connections and forms of resistance that feminists in China are making online despite increasing crackdowns on free speech and the lessons they offer for feminists around the world. Weibo Feminism explores the many forms of contemporary feminism in China, from campaigns against sexual harassment and domestic violence through to online Feminist Reading groups and subversive online novels published on social media. The book includes an in-depth case study of support networks for overwhelmingly female frontline medical staff that have sprung up on social media during the COVID-19 pandemic.
