Ahnjii delves into a one night dalliance with a wildling only to find that the entire Orlando group of shifters is looking for revenge over the one rogue she accidentally killed. It's okay, she wasn't looking for a long relationship. Ahnjii finally meets one of Earth's more elusive species in the form of a most unpleasant, unhinged Upre, the symbiotic human host and symbiont cryptids who drink blood. He wants her body, and won't take no for an answer. Tyler becomes the pawn in their disquieting game and Ahnjii's out to draw some blood of her own though the Upre money and power might be more than a match for Khimmer and Nightarmor. Help comes in the form of an unusual witch who is more than just an empath and a Knight who may or may not have Ahnjii's interests at heart. With her friend Tyler at risk, some bodies are going to drop.
