Shetland, 1849. A young blacksmith, Gideon Thompson, makes the difficult decision to leave Lerwick, and the girl he admires, in the hope of earning enough to save his family from destitution. He travels far from his island home to the wilderness of Rupert's Land. As Eve follows Gideon's journey, accompanied by enigmatic rancher, Joel Baxter, she feels an affinity to the young blacksmith and discovers more than she could imagine.
