Rob Nijsse describes in his book the ‘birth’ of 27 projects, like the Educatorium in Utrecht (architect OMA), the University Library of Utrecht (architect Wiel Arets), Museum aan de Stroom in Antwerp (architect Neutelings Riedijk), and the Dutch Pavilion of the World Exhibition in Hannover (architect MVRDV). It contains sketches, both of the architects in question and of Rob Nijsse. They illustrate the ‘birth’ of projects. Added to these sketches is a description of each project as seen through the eyes of a structural engineer. The book is meant for everyone who is interested in the process of designing a building. It starts with describing the state of affairs in the building process nowadays. The last chapter is called ‘ The Ideal Building Process’ and includes the condensed memories of Rob Nijsse on the art of building, based on his experiences in 40 years of building special buildings all over the world.
